BCFPA will be holding an election to fill two regional delegate positions on the Board of Directors, with representatives coming from the Fraser and Interior regions.

Regional Delegates hold positions on the Board of Directors of BC Foster Parents Association to represent the geographic region of BC where they live.

The Regional Delegate’s role is to liaise with foster parents within their home region, gather information regarding issues and events, concerns and successes and report back to the Provincial Board of Directors at monthly meetings. The Regional Delegate may provide direct support and advocacy to the foster parents in their region and may be able to attend Ministry or partnership meetings on behalf of BCFPA when requested to do so. The Regional Delegate represents the region where they live and serves as an information link to and from BCFPA’s Provincial office, however, as a member of the Provincial Board of Directors, they serve with a provincial focus.

General Responsibilities

  • Attend monthly Board of Directors conference calls, meetings when required and the Annual General Meeting. This may require travel within the Province up to 3 times per year. BCFPA does cover the cost of any Board-related travel and lodging.
  • Liaise with regional agency partners and Ministry workers/leaders as necessary, attending case or partnership meetings as required or invited.
  • Contact all active BCFPA Branch leaders specific to the delegate’s region each month to gather information and build relationships.
  • Develop supportive relationships with community partners and fostering stakeholders.
  •  Be available for or provide referral to foster parents who need direct support and/or advocacy.
  • Be available to participate as an active member of a BCFPA committee when requested.
  • Work as a team member with Provincial Board and staff.
  • Provide written reports for the FosterlineBC newsletter and Annual Report, summarizing current activity and news within your region.

General Eligibility Criteria

  • BCFPA foster parent member in good standing (current membership to January 31 of present year)
  • Active member of BCFPA Branch (preferred, not essential)
  • Strong relationships and networking ability within the foster parent community

Term

Regional delegate positions have two-year terms and are considered to be elected or appointed as of the end of the most recent Annual General Meeting.

Deadline for Nominations

The deadline for nominations is June 11, 2025, with the goal of holding the elections from June 18-July 2, 2025.
